Tournaments

Upcoming Tournaments

A large part of the NSA's activities involve its officially sanctioned tournaments. At any given time, there are more than a hundred tournaments scheduled across the United States and Canada. Most of these are organized by NSA-certified tournament directors, while a few major events are funded by Hasbro or Hasbro Canada, organized by the NSA and reported on at this web site.

The calendar of upcoming tournaments is available on-line and in our print newsletter. You can look at it here in the following formats:

Corrections to any of the above should be sent to NSA Director of Clubs and Tournaments Joe Edley at je@scrabble-assoc.com and copied to NSA Webmaster John Chew at jjchew@math.utoronto.ca.

To find out more about a tournament near you, please contact its organizer using the information provided. Before you play in an event, please familiarize yourself with our policy on behavior at tournaments. If you'd like to become a director, please follow the instructions given in our club information page. Technical questions about tournaments should be sent to Joe Edley at the address shown above.

Major events, such as the National SCRABBLE® Championship, National School SCRABBLE® Championship, Canadian National SCRABBLE® Championship and the World SCRABBLE® Championship feature web coverage at this site. These events are often taped for subsequent telecast, and played under special telecast rules.

Tournament coverage is arranged by event year: 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, ....

A list of all NSC/USSO players ranked by their historical performance is updated after each such event.

"SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game" is the proper way to refer to this unique group of word games and related properties marketed by HASBRO. "SCRABBLE®" is not a generic term. To use it as such is not only misleading but also does injustice to the company responsible for the trademark's longtime popularity. All we ask is that when you mean SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game, you say so.

The SCRABBLE® trademark is owned by J.W. Spear and Sons, PLC, a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc. outside of the United States and Canada.
